CONDITIONS TO BE FULFILLED TO BECOME A RESERVIST

For those who retired  after June 19, 2020   :

  • Be retired from the SPVM at the time of signing the collective agreement
  • Be a retired SPVM police officer  for a maximum of 3 years  (including the pre-retirement period)
  • Meet the requirements of the Police Act
  • Hold a valid 4A driver's license
  • Have completed the appropriate training as an active police officer
  • Satisfy an assessment of the file as an active police officer
  • Pass or have passed during the previous year the security accreditation survey, depending on the required level

For those retiring  after June 19, 2023:

  • Have completed a minimum of  30 years of service
  • Be a retired SPVM police officer  for a maximum of 3 years  (including the pre-retirement period)
  • Meet the requirements of the Police Act
  • Have a valid 4A driver's license
  • Have completed the appropriate training as an active police officer
  • Satisfy an assessment of the file as an active police officer
  • Pass or have passed during the previous year the security accreditation survey, depending on the required level

ROLE AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Gendarmerie reservists

  • Hourly rate of $58.41
  • Open to all ranks
  • Participate in festive order services in crowd management and street blocking
  • Fulfill marketing mandates not filled by active police officers
  • Be present in school zones for CSR and crossing guard activities
  • Provide investigative support for day-to-day mandates


Gendarmerie reservists will be called according to their availability through a computer platform.

Survey Reservists

  • Hourly rate of $62.16
  • Open to all ranks holding investigative courses under the Police Act
  • Fulfill specific support and mentoring mandates without case management
  • Provide operations support
  • Conduct security accreditation surveys


Reservists may apply for published postings as required by the Service.

Conditions applicable to all reservists

  • Reservists will continue to receive their pension without interruption
  • Reservists will commit to a minimum of 10 days of work per year and will accept assignments according to their availability.
  • The reservists will be armed and will have to obtain their shooting qualification
  • If reservists work more than 8.5 hours in a day, the excess is paid at 150% of the hourly rate
  • A box and the necessary equipment will be provided by the employer
