7 - Trades, transport, machinery and related fields

This category includes trade supervisors and foremen, construction and mechanical tradespersons, transport equipment and heavy machinery operators and drivers, and trades helpers. These occupations are found in a wide range of industrial sectors, but particularly in the construction and transportation sectors.

This category includes most apprenticeship trades, including all trades in the construction industry. Other occupations in this category usually require a college or vocational diploma as well as on-the-job training. Corps helpers get on-the-job training. Experience leads to supervisory or entrepreneurial positions. There is little mobility or ability to transfer skills between occupations in this category due to the specialized apprenticeship, training and licensing requirements regulating most of these occupations.

72 - Occupations in electrical, construction and industrial trades

This major group includes workers in the industrial, electrical and construction trades, which usually require three or more years of training, or several years of trades experience combined with high school, college or courses from the appropriate industries. It contains occupations in the metal machining, forming, profiling and erection trades; electricians and power line and telecommunications workers; plumbers, pipe fitters and gas fitters; carpenters and cabinetmakers; masonry and plastering personnel; and other construction trades personnel, as well as associated contractors and foremen.

73 - Personnel in the maintenance and equipment operation trades

This major group includes personnel in the maintenance and equipment operation trades, which usually require an apprenticeship program of more than two years or on-the-job training in the trade. It contains contractors and foremen of the maintenance trades and heavy equipment and transport operators; machinery and transportation equipment mechanics (except motor vehicles); motor vehicle mechanics; other related mechanics and repairers; rail transport operations personnel; crane operators, drillers and blasters; as well as printing, other trades and related personnel, not elsewhere classified.

74 - Installation, repair and maintenance personnel and material handlers

This major group includes installers, repairers and servicers and material handlers who require some high school education or on-the-job training. It includes installation, repair and maintenance personnel, as well as stevedores and handlers.

75 - Personnel in the operation of transport equipment and heavy machinery and other personnel assimilated to maintenance

This major group includes transportation and heavy machinery operators and related maintenance workers, who usually require a high school diploma, license or certificate. It contains drivers of motor vehicles and public transport vehicles; heavy equipment operators; as well as other drivers of transport equipment and similar maintenance personnel.

76 - Construction trades support workers, laborers and helpers and other related workers

This major group includes construction trades support workers, laborers and helpers and related workers who require some experience and some high school education, and may require a certificate. It contains support workers for trades and labourers, as well as laborers in public works and similar personnel, not classified elsewhere.
