3 - Health sector
This category includes occupations involved in the direct provision of health care services to patients, as well as occupations providing technical support to medical personnel. Medical and dental technologists and technicians wishing to advance to a position requiring a higher level of specialization generally must complete additional education.
Support occupations in the health care industry typically come from short-term training programs that focus on the support field.
30 - Professional nursing staff
This major group includes health personnel working in the nursing sector. It contains nursing coordinators and supervisors, registered nurses, registered psychiatric nurses and registered nurses.
31 - Professional health care personnel (except nursing)
This major group includes professional health care workers, except those working in nursing. It contains physicians, dentists, veterinarians, pharmacists, dietitians and nutritionists, as well as other professionals in diagnosis, treatment, therapy and assessment.
32 - Technical personnel in health care
This major group includes technical occupations in health care. It contains health science technologists and technicians; denturists, dental hygienists and dental therapists; as well as opticians, alternative medicine practitioners, practical nurses, massage therapists and other paramedical professionals and other technical health care personnel.
34 - Health Services Support Staff
This major group includes health service support personnel, who require some high school education, or a high school diploma, as well as additional specialized training. It contains dental assistants, nursing aides, orderlies and other health service support staff.
