6 - Sales and service

This category includes occupations in wholesale and retail trade, personal and protective services, and occupations related to hospitality and tourism.
The occupations specialized in sales and services are linked, for the most part, to post-secondary studies or to specialized training programs in the field. Others are characterized by periods of on-the-job training, but outside of apprenticeship. A related training program usually allows transition from basic and intermediate sales and service occupations to those with a higher level of specialization. Experience leads to supervisory positions.

62 - Retail sales supervisors and specialist sales personnel

This major group includes retail sales supervisors and specialized sales personnel, which require a related post-secondary degree, or specialized training courses and, in some cases, licensure. It contains retail sales supervisors, specialized wholesale technical staff, retail and wholesale trade buyers, insurance agents and brokers, real estate agents and salespeople, and financial sales representatives.

63 - Service supervisors and specialized service staff

This major group includes service supervisors and specialized service workers, who require post-secondary education, specific job-specific training or apprenticeship training. It contains service supervisors, chefs, cooks, butchers, bakers and personnel specializing in personal services and customer service.

64 - Sales Representatives and Salespersons - Wholesale and Retail Trade

This major group includes wholesale and retail salespersons and salespersons, who require a high school education or higher, as well as experience related to the product or service, or some combination of education, tutoring, product knowledge and demonstrated sales ability. It contains sales and account representatives - wholesale (non-technical) and salespeople - retail.

65 - Service Representatives and Other Customer and Personal Service Personnel

This major group includes service representatives and other customer and personal service personnel, who usually require a high school education and some combination of special courses or training programs lasting up to two years, relevant on-the-job training, knowledge or experience and, in some cases, appropriate licenses or certificates. It contains security guards and related personnel in security services, food and beverage service personnel, accommodation and travel personnel, tourism and leisure services personnel, customer service representatives customer and information and other personal services personnel.

66 - Sales Support Staff

This major group includes sales support personnel, who usually require some partial high school education. It contains Cashiers, Gas Station Attendants, Shelf Liners - Retail, Store Clerks, Order Pickers and all other sales related personnel.

67 - Service support and other service personnel, n.e.c.

This major group includes in-service support and other service personnel, not elsewhere classified, who require some secondary education and for whom on-the-job training could be provided. It includes counter attendants, kitchen helpers and related support staff; accommodation, travel and recreation support staff; cleaners; and other support services and related personnel, not elsewhere classified.
