7 - Trades, transport, machinery and related fields

This category includes trade supervisors and foremen, construction and mechanical tradespersons, transport equipment and heavy machinery operators and drivers, and trades helpers. These occupations are found in a wide range of industrial sectors, but particularly in the construction and transportation sectors.

This category includes most apprenticeship trades, including all trades in the construction industry. Other occupations in this category usually require a college or vocational diploma as well as on-the-job training. Corps helpers get on-the-job training. Experience leads to supervisory or entrepreneurial positions. There is little mobility or ability to transfer skills between occupations in this category due to the specialized apprenticeship, training and licensing requirements regulating most of these occupations.
